Conditions

1. Application:

Any classical guitarists from all over the world can participate in this competition, there are no age limits.
If you would like to take part in this competition you need to send the following documents before the 01st of October, 2011:

  • the registration form ( application-form.doc);
  • a copy of your passport with all the basic information;
  • a short autobiography with the description of your professional activities.


All the above mentioned documents should be sent by email to frauchimoscow@mail.ru or by post to the address:
“The board of The Second Alexander Frauchi International Guitar Competition”,
121069, Moscow, Russia, Povarskaya st., 30/36, the Gnesins' Academy of Music, Department of integrated programs.

The documents sent after October, 01, 2011 (according to the postmark)
will not be considered at all.

The entrance fee amounts to 4000 rubles (approximate equivalent of Eur 100), and this sum is supposed to be paid by the participants at the competition registration in Moscow November, 6, 2011.

2. Check-in

Registration will be hold in Moscow, Malyi Rzhevsky pereulok, 1, in the lobby of the Concert hall of the Gnesins’ Music Academy 6th of November 11:00–16:00

3. Program:

- The first round
15 min. max.

1. Any piece by J.S. Bach;
2. Free choice program.

- The second round
20 min. max.

I. Big instrumental work (sonata, sonatina, suite, fantasia, variations, rondo) by one of these composers: M.Giuliani, F.Sor, L.Legnani, G.Regondi, N.Paganini, N.Coste, J.Mertz, F.Moreno–Torroba, M.Castelnuovo–Tedesco, J.Turina, A.Ginastera, A.Jose, J.Rodrigo, M.Ponce, N. Koshkin, L.Brouwer, S.Assad, R.Dyens;
The chosen major work must be performed in its entirety (all movements.)
II. Free choice program (optional); In the second round the participant is allowed to perform only one major instrumental piece, that is within the 20 minute requirement.

- The third round
One of the concerts of the participant’s choice:

  • Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco - Concerto for guitar & orchestra No. 1 in D major, Op. 99
  • H. Villa-Lobos - Concerto for guitar and orchestra

4. Other conditions

All the three rounds are to be held in public.
All the pieces must be played by heart.
The pieces played during one of the rounds cannot be played repeatedly in another round.
Not more than 20 competitors will have an opportunity to take part in the second round, and only five will participate in the final round.
The order of the performance will be determined by casting of lots during the registration and preserved till the end of the competition.
Any changes in the program after the date of the application receiving are allowed only in extraordinary cases by mutual consent of the jury.
The competition jury have the right to divide the prizes (with the exception of the First prize) and not to award any of the prizes.
The decisions made by the jury are final and can not be reconsidered.
